A gender changer would be either male to male or female to female. 1A nice USB 3.0 M-A to M-A gender changerSyba SY-ADA20082 USB 3.0 Gender Changer Adapter Male to Male I needed a gender changer to adapt an extra long USB cable I purchased to attach my printer to my computer. My printer is a networkable all-in-one but it won't scan on the network. I could have gotten a somewhat cheaper USB 2.0 item to do the same job. But things are clearly moving to USB 3.0, so I decided to spend a tiny bit more for an item that would not be outdated so soon. All the new computers are now supporting USB 3.0 and it is so much faster than USB 2.0 that I think it will definitely replace the older standard. I think of the small price difference as an investment in the future. It is nice looking and it works well, so I rate it five stars *****. 5Five StarsOK 5Fast, when it can be usedI bought this adapter to use with my portable 500gb hard drive. My portable 500gb hard drive is the only item I currently own that utilizes a 3.0 USB port.
