Customer Reviews

Clunky, Noisy and Inaccurate for GamingI mainly bought this trackball for gaming, on the advice of another poster, who said it would be especially good for games like Missile Command because it's weighted. On that score it did not disappoint. It's definitely heavier than the trackballs we normally associate with PC's. I should add, though, that it still doesn't spin free like the arcade trackballs did, but it did lend a certain drama to game play. For use in most applications as a mouse, it's a little clunky, especially with that feature where the right side mouse button click waits two seconds to take effect. For better game-play, I could overlook that. Here's the thing, though. When playing games, in addition to its being noisy to a distracting degree, two months into owning it, I've begun to notice the pointer sticks in the horizontal axis when moving the ball slowly. From a gaming perspective, for me that's the deal breaker.3A great choice for movement-challenged individualsI purchased this trackball for my elderly father, who suffered from Parkinson's disease. If you are not familiar Parkinson's, the symptoms can include moderate to severe dyskinesia, which is essentially difficulty controlling voluntary muscle movements. Such was the case with my father but he very much wanted to operate the computer I bought for him. With patience, he was able to use the keyboard with a fair amount of accuracy but found the mouse almost impossible to use. For starters, it was too small for him to use accurately. Any attempt to move the mouse almost always put the cursor off the screen. The other problem was that he kept "accidentally" clicking the mouse buttons. This trackball solved both problems. The ball was big enough for him to control and the buttons were far enough away from the ball that they didn't get clicked on accidentally. Of course, this made other actions like "click and drag" much harder but most modern computer operating systems can be adjusted to accommodate this.We had no issues connecting this trackball to my father's iMac, running OS X Tiger, using the supplied USB adaptor. Drivers were not required.Pros: A great choice for movement-challenged individuals.Cons: Expensive.4Great for someone with hand tremors.Perfect for someone who has hand tremors. My husband has lost his small muscle control in his hands and his hands shake when he attempts to do things that require small muscle control. This Bigtrack Trackball is not as sensitive as a standard mouse and only requires use of the larger muscles in his hand and arm....so my husband can now use his computer again. Prior to getting this Bigtrack he tried a number of different mouses, but they were all too sensitive and he would do things he didn't intend to do. He even made a couple of stock trades he did not intend to make because of his hand tremor, which could have bee disastrous but fortunately worked out OK. With this Bigtrack Trackball things go a little slower, but he is again in control.5mouse padI know this is designed for kids but it is great for those who are handicapped too. My hubby is a quad and he uses this mouse all the time and loves it.5Works great for handicapped The grandson has cerebral palsy and cannot use his hands or fingers easily. The size of the ball makes it possible to move the cursor much easier for him and the double click scroll feather makes it possible for the first time for him to scroll on the screen. 5The Only Large Trackball Mouse That We Have FoundThank goodness that Infogrip makes this trackball mouse because no other manufacturer seems to make a comparable product. My adult brother has physical disabilities that leaves him with trouble with his fine motor control. Therefore, he cannot use the modern "swipe" pads or small trackball mice. The actual "Ball" must be large. This ball is about the size of a pool ball.Pros:1. Size of the ball2. Weight of the ball3. Locking right double click to drag objects without holding down the mouse key4. Can be used with a PC or a MacCons:1. Not wireless2. Baby colors: High contrast would have been better for us: Black ball with white base and black buttons.3. Needs a big scroll wheel (Maybe to the side of the ball?) so you can scroll down a webpage instead of using the up and down arrows on the keyboard.4. Little bit clunky sounding when you use the buttons to click (needs to be a bit more responsive)3Compatibility issue with iOS 13 mouse support (iPads and iPhones)I tried to use it with the new iOS13 mouse support on an iPad and while I could get the cursor to move using the trackball, I couldn't get anything to click (not the buttons or hooking it to an external switch).1Great for Disabled Persons, Too! I purchased this track ball for my nephew who has limited mobility. He found this easy to use (it is huge) and the clicker buttons are easy to reach. I would definitely recommend this to others with limited mobility or disabilities. Amazon offered the best price as well. 5Great for those with tremors unless you drop and break itI got this for my friend who has multiple sclerosis (MS) - with her tremors she finds it impossible to use a regular mouse. I'm not sure why they made it look like a playskool toy - I guess if you were visually impaired you could find it easier. Everything is tactile enough that you wouldn't have much trouble using it once you located it even if you were blind. The trackball works well, and you can adjust the speed/sensitivity within your computer settings. The left and right buttons work as left and right mouse buttons usually do. If this were better padded/somehow more durable I would give it five stars, even though I found it pricey. Unfortunately, she broke it in less than a week. As I said, she has pretty severe tremors, and she is in a nursing home with hard floors, The first time she knocked it off of the desk, it didn't break. The second time, it did. It looked OK, but you could hear pieces rattling inside and the cursor now only tracks right, no other direction - so you can go off screen and that's pretty much it nowIf you are not at risk of knocking this to the floor, or if you have soft carpeted floors, this may be a good choice. She loved it for the week that it worked. Unfortunately it wasn't durable enough to last, and at this price, I can't justify buying another.3Great for my Mom with tremors. Great for my Mom with tremors! 5took 2s for my son to start usingFirst thoughts:So it took my 5yo son two seconds to start using it. I asked him what he thought and he said he likes it.The only thing is it does take him some "reaching" in order to click. So he uses two hands. Will follow up later....(above mar 13 2012)-----------edit 10/4/2012so far it still works. When I use it, I feel its a bit taxing to press the buttons.I may switch to a different trackball soon. It becomes difficult to use. Still, its great for beginning (small) children because of the large yellow ball.Buy it for your small child. Then ebay it.4with trembling hands hi find this to be extremely useful. I would recommend it over other products for ...Even though pressing the two buttons was a little confusing at first,, after A few weeks, Of use, with trembling hands I found this to be extremely useful. I would recommend it over other products for such use anytime. the center ball did you give me some trouble the first few days. The cursor would not follow the ball. A few good taps on the ball fixed the problem. Again, I recommend this excellent product.5This is BIG, but works as I had hopedBought this for my mother, who has Parkinson's Disease. The tremors and other movement associated with Parkinson's had made working with a mouse very problematic. She was unintentionally clicking the mouse buttons and struggling with getting the pointer where she needed it. This is a little clunky, but seems to solve the problem.4
