    A Must-Have for Anybody Painting More than One Interior Room Anybody painting interior rooms would do themselves a huge favor by buying this for themselves. This allows you to quickly protect things you don't want painted (like light fixtures on the ceiling). This works with either plain rolls of paper or you can find rolls of plastic that unroll after you apply for larger areas (like windows and doors.) 5Nifty The price was very off putting but I went ahead and invested in the hopes that it was as good as it appeared to be. I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied with its performance. My only issue was with the cheap tape and not the masker. Use a good tape with this. Get the paper roll that fits the blade *(blade sold separately)* 9 inch works best, I have found. 4Extremely high learning curve to use. I am a home owner DIY project person. I see the potential of this dispenser but I was spending too much time figuring it out than masking the old way. The tear off blade is completely worthless, at least as I was using it. If I had to mask everyday I would try to master this as the times it worked, it worked great, but the times were too few. The plastic sheeting that is made for this dispenser is 5 stars. 2Oh Hand Masker, How I Love You, Let Me Count the Ways Oh Hand Masker, how I love you, let me count the ways. I freaking love this thing, I think my husband is jealous of it. We had a LOT to paint and we had to mask off doors, windows, you name it. I watched the Idaho Painter's videos about hand maskers and how much easier they make painting. Ohhhhh, Hand Masker, why didn't I know about you and your ways before now????Need to cover windows before spraying trim?? What used to be a 20 minute job per window is now 1/4 of that, mask off baseboards before painting a room, around ceiling fans before painting the ceiling. I can't tell you how many things I've masked.If you need to figure out how to load it and use it go to YouTube and watch the Idaho Painter, he'll show you how. 5Serious Time Saver! If you plan to spray paint a room this will save you time. Did the entire bathroom in about an hour. Bathrooms have mirrors, bar lights, cabinets and showers thus usually take more time. This taper combines tape and construction paper all in one. It's easy enough to use but not as easy as some of the professional units. It does work though and sufficiently enough that even the homeowner can use this gun to save time and get professional results. Make sure you use blue tape. Blue tape dispenses smoother and does not rip. I watched my buddies painter use this and learned from a pro. Spray painting was always better than a brush and roller. The only drawback was preparation. This makes getting superior spray paint results easier to obtain. Whew. 5One of the most useful tools a painter can have Oh, this product is such a time saver for anyone undertaking a painting project. I used this on two projects - an office and a small bathroom that really needed new paint jobs. Our house had been a rental for nearly 7 years, and it certainly showed in the condition of the walls. This masker saved me hours of time by enabling me to protect the baseboards, carpet, and windows with as little effort as possible, especially when used with the straight cut blade. With the appropriate stuff masked, I was able to achieve near professional results. Make sure to watch the masking tips by the Idaho Painter on YouTube to understand how best to use this indispensable tool, and it will save you hours of time and potential heartbreak caused by paint getting on the wrong things. One of the best tools I have acquired. Highly recommended! 5I m working on the tedious task of painting the oak trim in my house This masker makes life SO much easier! I m working on the tedious task of painting the oak trim in my house, white. It s going to be a long process :) taping and prep work are the least exciting parts of any job, so anything that can help make that go faster and smoother is a winner in my book. I bought this masker after seeing it on a youtube video and I can t believe how much easier it has made my life! I use a masking tape and brown roller paper to run along my floors, just below my floorboard trim. This protects my floors for about 9 inches from the wall out, which is plenty to protect them while painting trim. I don t need to run a full drop cloth across the floor, and having my protective surface taped down keeps it from sliding away from where I need it most.I also purchased some of the folding plastic film for panting window trim. For that I use blue painters tape along with the plastic and tape off the top of the window, just at the trim. (I have vinyl windows, so I don t need to paint the window frames themselves.) From there, I can fold down the plastic, tape the sides of the plastic to the sides of the frame and tape the bottom of the plastic along the bottom of the frame. Then, my whole window and frame are safe from paint. You CAN buy film and paper that come pre-taped and you can roll it out buy hand, but it is expensive and this is SO. MUCH. EASIER. Seriously. It goes smoothly, and quickly. I don t have to fight with masking tape rolling, folding or tearing on my. I don t accidentally stick the tape to the loose plastic or paper. My cuts are always nice and straight and even. It goes SO quickly! I can have the floors of an entire room taped and protected in 5 minutes or less.Psychologically, it seems hard to justify buying a tool for something that really, you CAN do on your own, but if you re going to be doing several projects or a large, time consuming project like painting trim, the money this costs more than make up for the time it saves. We have a whole house worth of trim to paint, and the next project will be the walls. I am getting PLENTY of use out of this. Additionally, I can bring it to friends and family s homes to help them mask their painting projects, they generally pay for their own tape, paper, plastic etc. I feel that I have already more than gotten my money s worth for this.Also, don t forget to buy the blade, it doesn t come with one, unfortunately. Save yourself some money and just buy the sharp, plastic blade, and skip the paper blade. You can cut the paper with the plastic blade just fine, but you can t cut the plastic with the paper blade. There s no reason to buy both and try to change them all the time. 5Not Ready for Prime Time . Using 3M Hand-Masker Advanced Masking Film and the 3M Hand-Masker 12-Inch Film Blade together will not cut properly. If you use too much force then the tape will run off the film. Your better off just hand taping it all. 1Well thought out and easy to use. Well thought out product. I had no problems using this, but I do advise watching a youtube video so you can see how simple it is to use. What's also especially impressive is the plastic that goes with this doesn't shed paint chips, and that after you first tack on the masking plastic the plastic pulls, or rather extends, so easily. If you use a paint sprayer it's possible that you might use it more because this product does make extensive masking much easier and faster.I am a professional remodeler. 5Best thing ever. We used the yellow frog tape and went around the perimeter of the ceiling. Then put blue frog tape on the masker and applied to the yellow tape overlapping slightly. Cut our prep time a lot. I highly reccomend using it. We spray painted the main level and used this everytime we met a color change wall and ceiling.because we'd just painted the ceiling. 5
